Xi and Modi are ‘partners not rivals’ in attempt to repair China

For years the relationship between China and India was characterised by mistrust, with the Indians leaning towards the west for support. But the two countries are being pushed closer by Trump’s tariffs.

Their leaders – Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi – met at a summit in Shanghai, where the red carpet was also rolled out for Vladimir Putin plus a host of other leaders who were happy to challenge the United States and Europe.
