SALT LAKE CITY — A firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Saturday after an abandoned building caught fire in Sugar House.

Salt Lake City Fire Division Chief Bob Silverthorne said the fire broke out at approximately 11 a.m. at a vacant building next to Fairmont Park.

Silverthorne said the fire, burning in a two-story structure, was “easily contained,” and was believed to be human-caused. The building was occupied by individuals suspected of trespassing, he said.

It was not immediately known what injuries the firefighter had.

The incident was still under investigation.
