STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The New York City Department of Sanitation is hosting a series of 2025 SAFE (Solvents, Automotive, Flammables and Electronics) Disposal events through October, offering city residents an opportunity to safely dispose of potentially harmful household products.

The event is specifically for items including pesticides, mercury-containing devices, paints, automotive fluids, medications and electronics, which may no longer be collected with trash.

The events are rain or shine and run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On the Island the disposal event will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Midland Beach Parking Lot 8 , located on Father Capodanno Boulevard and Hunter Avenue.
