St. Joseph by-the-Sea won an early CHSAA matchup against visiting Maria Regina, 7-0, to open up the 2025 season Tuesday afternoon in Huguenot.

Six different players entered the scoring column for the Vikings, with Kayla Rugg opening the scoring just two minutes into the contest. Following a Francesca Lauro corner kick that deflected off the goalkeeper’s hands, Anna Giuffre tapped the ball to Rugg who proceeded to put it in from the left goalpost.

With the hosts just missing multiple shots throughout the first half, it was Madison Cermeli who finally broke the dam just before the break. With five minutes remaining before intermissiion, the senior took the ball at midfield and dribbled through several Tigers defenders before inserting a booming kick from 20 yards out.
