Aston Villa looked to have missed out on bringing last season’s loan signing Marco Asensio back to Villa Park.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who claims Fenerbahçe ‘are closing in’ on a deal with Paris Saint Germain.

He says the deal is ‘at the final stages’ and that the Spaniard is waiting to be given the go-ahead to fly to Turkey to complete the transfer.

Villa have been trying to bring the attacker back to the Premier League after he joined in January and made a good impression with eight goals in 21 appearances.

Financially a deal was likely going to be a difficult one to do but with Villa struggling for goals so far this season, a fillip in the transfer market is sorely needed.
