The Reds are calling up Sal Stewart, MLB Pipeline’s No. 1 Reds prospect and the No. 31 overall prospect in baseball, a source told MLB.com's Mark Sheldon on Sunday. The club has not confirmed the news.
Stewart, a 21-year-old infielder, has a .907 OPS, 20 home runs and 17 stolen bases in 118 games between Triple-A Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga. After posting an .850 OPS in 80 games with Chattanooga, Stewart took it up a notch with a 1.023 OPS in 38 games with Louisville.
Stewart was selected 32nd overall in the 2022 Draft by the Reds out of Westminster Christian High School in Miami. Stewart will join an already impressive collection of young Reds infielders including Elly De La Cruz, Gavin Lux, Matt McLain and Spencer Steer.
