The President of the United States has great power, but President Trump is obviously seeking even greater power for himself. This is a widely recognized personal characteristic of Donald Trump. People who want power put themselves forward as major fixers of problems and “saviors” in emergencies.

We already see Trump seeking to add to his power by creating “emergencies” to justify his use of additional power than is typically available to the president. Trump has already issued eight “National Emergencies” since entering the White House in January. By creating a sense of crisis in the nation and in various locations, Trump seeks to have people recognize him as the one who can solve emergency problems.
