It’s my understanding that UNC Asheville cut Philosophy and other departments that develop critical thinking skills. But as I learn more about their harebrained stadium scheme, I wonder if they’ve cut their Math Department too.

For those who haven’t heard, UNCA has proposed bulldozing a vital urban forest and living laboratory to build a 5,000-seat soccer complex for a team that draws fewer fans than most area high schools. Somehow, UNCA doesn’t realize that for each student willing to attend an institution that willfully wipes out such a treasure, many others would likely choose another school.
