Pitt volleyball didn’t have to wait long to pick up its first win of the season. Back home in Pittsburgh for the State Farm Showcase at PPG Paints Arena, the Panthers found the breakthrough they were looking for.

It wasn’t the smoothest performance, but Pitt managed to outlast No. 25 TCU in four sets, 25-23, 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, on Sunday afternoon.

“We're thankful for the good crowd support tonight,” Pitt coach Dan Fisher said. “It was nice to feel the homecourt advantage, it definitely helped us. We were much improved from last weekend in a lot of areas.”

The match started out a bit slow with both teams trading points until a 5-0 service run from freshman libero Izzy Masten gave Pitt some breathing room in the middle of the set. TCU quickly erased the six-point lead to tie score at 18
