There was something very different about the atmosphere of last weekend’s game between Western Beaver and neighboring South Side.
Something the Golden Beavers faithful had never experienced in their 63 years of existence.
For the first time in school history, Western Beaver hosted a game on a Friday night.
“It was electric,” Western Beaver coach Ron Busby said. “The community just came out in full force, we were fired up, it was a backyard rivalry game and a great football game. You couldn’t have wrote a better story.”
Western Beaver made its debut under its Friday night lights with a 32-20 victory against South Side. But the win aside, it was also the end of an era and the beginning of a new one for the Golden Beavers program.
