NEW YORK — With September roster expansion looming, Mets prospect Brandon Sproat , 24, may have just forced his way into the conversation.

On Monday, Sept. 1, all MLB rosters will expand from 26 to 28 players. Every team can add one position player and one pitcher from the 40-man roster to its team.

This begs the question many fans want to know: Is Sproat, the Mets’ No. 5 prospect, a possibility to get the call?

After Saturday’s performance in Triple-A, when Sproat tossed seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts against Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees), Mets manager Carlos Mendoza called it something of a statement game.
