The City of Wanneroo is set to open talks with the State Government on a potential council boundary shake-up which could lead to the formation of a new local government in Perth’s far north.

In February, the council asked city administration to develop a proposal for a district boundary review, with some councillors calling for the establishment of a City of Yanchep as the city’s current boundaries may no longer suit its size or demographics.

This process has now been completed and the council is now being asked to authorise CEO Bill Parker and mayor Linda Aitken to begin discussions with relevant State Government ministers and the Local Government Advisory Board on a district boundary review.

Mr Parker is also set to be asked to provide the council with a report summarising preliminary
