Firefighters are on alert and urging communities across Queensland to stay informed with fire season underway after a warm end to winter.

Several fires are burning across South East Queensland, as well as in the Gladstone and Rockhampton regions.

All fires remain at an Advice level this morning, with no properties at risk.

Authorities have warned smoke is the greatest threat, affecting visibility on local roads.

Hundreds of people were evacuated from Lake Wivenhoe in the Somerset region north-west of Brisbane, due to a fire burning near the Brisbane Valley Highway.
