KANAS CITY, Kan. - FOX4's learning more about the handling of recent cases involving the man accused of killing a KCK Police Officer.

Dennis Mitchell III has been charged with one count of capital murder in the death of Hunter Simoncic.

He's also been charged with one count of attempting to elude a police officer, two counts of theft and one count of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon.

FOX4 told you Mitchell was arrested late last year in Wyandotte County on felony and misdemeanor drug charges that he bonded out on.

In late June, Mitchell was arrested on charges of domestic assault and bodily injury in Southwestern Iowa. He served a 17-day jail sentence for it.
