KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A new grant program in Knoxville is hoping to promote violence reduction with the "On My Block Community Investment Grant" to open at the end of the week.

The program provides for neighbor-led events to help people build connections, specifically, the program is focused on neighborhoods that are disproportionately impacted by violence. The goal of the investment is to strengthen community relationships.

"The goal behind that, is if we give residents opportunity to create moments of connection, moments of togetherness, then it builds. Then it builds trust and fosters stronger ties among residents," Star Starks, partnership and program coordinator, said.
