ONEIDA, Tenn. — A private school in East Tennessee is using intimidation with armed volunteers on campus deter active shooters from entering the building.

Back in 2023, Scott McNamara was in Nashville at a health conference when The Covenant School mass shooting took place. On his three hour time home, he reached out to Landmark Christian Academy's principal and offered to provide volunteer security at the school.

"I wasn't sure how she would respond to it," McNamara said.

The school's principal, Misty Blevins, asked him if he could start the very next day.

"It's no longer a matter of what I think is right or my 2nd Amendment rights," Blevins said. "It's a matter of keeping our kids safe and that's the bottom line."
