KIMBERLY, Idaho — A Kimberly couple is seeking financial relief through the courts after flood damage from a malfunctioning irrigation box left them with an $80,000 repair bill that neither the city nor the school district will help cover.

Kami Roach said she discovered several inches of water in her bedroom the morning of May 19 when she got up to tend to her baby.

"I had the baby monitor on, and kiddo started crying, and so I jumped out of bed to go get her, and stepped in water," Roach said. "I just like, froze."

Roach said the flooding stemmed from a pressurized irrigation box owned by the Kimberly School District that was gushing water due to a pipeline obstruction. The water flooded the couple's yard, garage and basement.
