TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Track and field is a good way to get recognized for your athletic ability, but for one Twin Falls man, it helped him make his acting debut on the big screen.

Luiz Anthony Garcia went to Canyon Ridge High School in Twin Falls, and went to Weber State University on an athletic scholarship.

Recently, he made his acting debut in the movie Raising the Bar: The Alma Richard Story . The movie tells the story of Alma Richard, the first resident of Utah to win a gold medal in the Olympics.

In the movie, Garcia portrays Jim Thorpe, a Native American athlete who was the first Native American to win a gold medal at the Olympics.

Garcia said he didn’t have any acting experience at all and was surprised when the director asked him to audition.
