FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - It’s been one week since the Garnet Fire erupted in the Sierra National Forest.

“We want to contain the fire. We want to stop its progression. We want to wrap this thing up and get everybody back to whatever normal looks like,” Fresno Fire Marshall Jay Tracy said.

It’s all hands on deck to contain the Garnet Fire.

“18,748 acres. We do have 8% containment. The fire was caused by lightning strikes, and at this point it is still an active and slowly growing fire that’s being fought by 1,444 personnel that we have on scene,” Tracy said.

Fresno Fire’s Deputy Fire Marshall is among the people working on the wildfire. His last wildfire deployment was in January for the Eaton Fire in Southern California.
