Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke of deepening his country's cooperation with Moscow "in all areas" after an "excellent meeting" with Russian President Vladimir Putin at an economic summit in China.

The warm words follow a souring of the U.S.-India relationship. President Donald Trump has imposed additional tariffs on Indian goods as punishment for India's ongoing purchases of Russian oil amid Moscow's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
