A man hid a knife in a plant pot outside a Cambridgeshire shopping centre. CCTV operators spotted Joshua Johnston carrying the knife near Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough at about 10am on August 18.
Officers attended and found the 26-year-old outside Peterborough Magistrates’ Court in Bridge Street, where he was searched. No knife was found, but he told them where he had hidden it.
They then took Johnston to the shopping centre entrance near Paten Bridge, where they found the knife buried in a large plant pot. He admitted possession of a knife in a public place.
On Thursday (August 28) at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court Johnston, of no known address, was jailed for a year and 18 weeks, including the activation of a suspended sentence.
