The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has suspended operations at Supersink Service Station in Mponela, Dowa District, with immediate effect.

The suspension comes after the station was found illegally selling fuel in jerricans and drums without proper authorisation, in violation of national fuel handling regulations.

In a statement, MERA stated that such practices contravene a national directive that strictly prohibits the sale of fuel in unapproved containers. The regulatory authority emphasized that the suspension serves as a warning to other fuel stations to comply fully with established guidelines.
