MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Murfreesboro Police Department's School Safety Division has partnered with Murfreesboro City Schools to help support students.
The partnership supports the Backpack Program, which provides snacks for children to take home on weekends. The program keeps shelves stocked with child-friendly snacks they can take home on weekends, so they're not left hungry.
The collaboration began when MCS contacted the department and asked if they'd be interested in providing snacks for children who otherwise wouldn't have anything to eat on the weekends. The department has said this program is the perfect way to help them get involved with their children and the school system.
