BIG SPRING As Texas faces a rising tide of suicide rates, mental health authorities like West Texas Centers are stepping up efforts to support individuals in crisis throughout 23 rural counties in West Texas during Suicide Prevention Month.
With state leaders launching new behavioral health initiatives, West Texas Centers CEO Rodney Jones emphasized the importance of regional mental health outreach and the urgent need to connect individuals to available resources.
“Our area is not only the geographically largest but also the most rurally diverse, with larger town like Big Spring and smaller communities such as Sterling City and Winters,” Jones said in a news release. “Each area requires different approaches to address the needs of those struggling with behavioral issues.”
