MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Middleborough Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fatal Monday morning fire on Everett Street.

The fire, which left a 91-year-old woman dead, was reported at approximately 2:52 a.m. Monday according to Middleborough Fire Department Chief Owen Thompson.

Arriving fire crews were met with heavy fire in the two-story, multi-family home as flames showed through multiple windows on the first floor.

The conditions prompted a second alarm and additional personnel were called to the scene.

According to Chief Thompson, firefighters entered the building and located the 91-year-old woman who was not able to escape the house.
