A free Suicide Risk Assessment Training event is coming to St. Joseph later this month, aimed at helping school professionals respond to students in crisis.

The Berrien County Suicide Prevention Coalition says the session will be on Tuesday, September 23, at Corewell Health’s Upton Education Center on Napier Avenue from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The training is designed for K through 12 counselors, social workers, administrators, and school resource officers. It will cover prevention, intervention, and postvention strategies, with instruction led by Dr. Melissa Reeves, a nationally certified school psychologist and licensed professional counselor.

Registration is open through September 17.
