DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The International Cricket Council has announced prize money of $13.88 million for the upcoming women’s ODI World Cup, almost a fourfold increase from the previous tournament.
The 2022 women’s World Cup in New Zealand had an overall prize purse of $3.5 million while the men’s ODI World Cup in India, two years ago, had prize money of $10 million.
“This four-fold increase in prize money is a landmark moment for women’s cricket and reflects our clear commitment to its long-term growth,” ICC Chairman Jay Shah said in a statement on Monday.
