FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Christopher Silvia announced that he is suspending his campaign challenging incumbent Paul Coogan in the Fall River mayor’s race.
In a video posted Monday to his cafe’s Facebook page, Silvia said in part, “The machine had grown too big against me. So I just said to myself ‘There is no way to effectively fight this.’ So I gave up.”
Silvia officially announced his candidacy for the Fall River mayoral race on August 4.
This followed a July 10 candidacy announcement posted to Facebook.
Silvia, owner of Christopher’s café in Fall River, also worked to organize a benefit event for victims of July’s tragic Gabriel House fire.
