Five athletes and five teams who made an impact on the local preps scene this past week:

Jaxson Pszanka, Resurrection Christian football: Pszanka was a workhorse in the Cougars’ season-opening 44-27 victory over Canon City on Saturday.

The Cougars’ senior caught 10 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown while also rushing seven times for 27 yards and two touchdowns.

Jack Clark, Berthoud soccer: The Spartans got their first win of the season with a 5-0 victory over Weld Central on Wednesday in Keenesburg and Clark had a big part in it.

The senior recorded a hat trick with three goals in the contest. The Spartans are 1-1 on the season.
