HERSHEY, Pa. — A dramatic rescue at Hersheypark is making headlines after a young boy was spotted walking along the closed monorail tracks on Saturday evening.
Video from the scene shows the boy high above the ground as concerned guests shouted from below.
John Sampson, of Bucks County, said he didn’t hesitate when he saw the child in danger.
“Dad instincts kicked in, and then [I was] just trying to figure things out and how to get up there as fast as possible,” Sampson said.
Sampson climbed onto the roof of a snack stand before pulling himself up onto the tracks. In front of a crowd holding its breath, he reached the boy and brought him safely down.
