It was heartening to read that Orioles ownership has confirmed its commitment to spend money to improve the ball club ( “Orioles’ David Rubenstein, Mike Elias hope Basallo extension is just the start,” Aug. 24).

We have not heard much from owner David Rubenstein since the team fell out of contention and traded away its pending free agents. Nor has ownership commented much about the elimination of the popular 13- and 29-game plans, as many season ticket holders face the choice of making a greater financial commitment or giving up their seats. Rotten timing? It sure is as our 2025 Orioles languish at the bottom of the American League East and playoff hopes were dashed even before the All-Star break.
