Wildfire smoke has prompted an air quality advisory for Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont County, Sturgeon County and Strathcona County. Officials note conditions can change quickly, with air quality and visibility varying from hour to hour.

Those most at risk—seniors, pregnant individuals, infants, children, people with chronic health conditions and outdoor workers—are advised to remain indoors and avoid strenuous activity.

While smoke affects everyone, symptoms are usually mild, such as eye, nose or throat irritation, headaches or coughing. More serious effects, including wheezing, chest pain or a severe cough, require immediate medical attention.
