A driver is accused of attempting to hit pedestrians in Stonington on Saturday night.

Officers responded to a collision where a pedestrian was struck and the driver fled the scene. When police responded to Mason Island Road at Glen Hill Road, they said they found an injured pedestrian and witnesses directed officers to the suspect vehicle that was stopped in traffic nearby.

As officers approached, police said the driver briefly spoke with them before deliberately driving his vehicle into a stone wall where the victim was sitting with other people nearby. The suspect reportedly then fled, but was stopped a short distance away by officers.
