Governors from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont, as well as two other states, issued a joint statement on offshore wind on Labor Day targeting the Trump administration after it was announced Friday that the Transportation Department canceled $679 million in federal funding for a dozen offshore wind projects.
The announcement from U.S. Transportation Sec. Sean Duffy on what he called "wasteful wind projects" was just the latest attack by the Trump administration on the reeling U.S. offshore wind industry, and it prompted a joint response from Mass. Gov. Maura Healey, RI Gov. Dan McKee, Vt. Gov. Ned Lamont, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, and New Jersey Gov.
