JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - A teenager is accused of trying to break into parked vehicles at a gun club in Jefferson County, Illinois.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman Club on North Miller Lake Lane to investigate a report of a female trying to burglarize parked vehicles.
This was on Sunday morning, August 31.
When they arrived, the suspect had already left the area, but deputies said they had a description of her vehicle.
The sheriff’s office said the deputies caught up with the suspect about 4 hours later near the intersection of Liberty Road and Shawnee Street.
Deputies identified the driver, a 17-year-old girl, as the suspect and arrested her on a burglary charge.
She was processed and then turned over to a guardian.
