MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - An early morning shooting is under investigation in Mississippi County, Missouri.

According to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office, a man was shot multiple times on southbound Interstate 57.

Investigators believe it happened sometime between 5 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. on Monday, September 1.

The sheriff’s office said the victim was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital and his condition is considered stable.

What led up to the shooting is not being released at this time, but Mississippi County Sheriff Detective Sgt. John Blakely said this is not considered a road rage incident.

Det. Blakely added that the investigation is still in the early stages, and investigators do have a suspect in mind.
