A former butler who worked for the Royal Family has told how a key decision made by King Charles left him shocked.
Grant Harrold served Charles for seven years at his Gloucestershire country estate Highgrove House.
Mr Harrold - who has since built a career as an etiquette specialist - was made redundant in 2011 as arrangements were being finalised for Charles' eventual coronation.
But he recalled a particularly moving conversation with Charles regarding his future role as monarch.
Charles is a 'very gentle character' who "didn't once raise his voice' throughout his tenure at Highgrove, Mr Harrold said.
When the Telegraph asked if they had ever discussed that momentous day, Harrold responded: "He said when that job comes you lose a parent."
