A Pret a Manger café was evacuated after reports a 'substance' was thrown over a customer.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Oxford Street, Manchester, at about 1.15pm on Monday, September 1.

Witnesses reported the branch was evacuated temporarily, with customers urged to leave.

There were reports n unknown substance was thrown from a bottle inside the store towards a customer.

It is understood a male customer sprayed the substance over another customer's legs.

He is then said to have fled the scene without paying for food.

But it was later deemed to be a weak liquid and that no injuries were reported.
