A full written judgment will be handed down this afternoon to explain why senior judges decided to overturn an imminent ban on housing asylum seekers at a hotel in Epping.
In a bombshell ruling last week, the Court of Appeal scrapped an injunction that would have forced the 138 migrants living at the Bell Hotel to leave by September 12. The hotel has been the focus of anti-immigration protests after an asylum seeker housed there was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
After Friday's court ruling, some locals gathered outside the hotel to express fury at the court ruling, while others appealed for calm.
