BOSTON — Manager Alex Cora wouldn’t say whether Kyle Harrison , the lefty who the Red Sox acquired from the Giants in the Rafael Devers trade , is the leading candidate to start Wednesday vs. Cleveland.

“There’s a lot of guys that we’re considering,” Cora said Monday before Boston’s three-game series opener against the Guardians .

The Red Sox need a starter for Wednesday, preferring to give rookie Payton Tolle extra rest after he made his MLB debut Friday. Tolle never pitched on regular rest in the minors this season. He always received at least one extra day between starts.

“It’s TBD the last day obviously understanding Tolle’s workload,” Cora said yesterday. “We have to be cautious with that.”
