SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Across the country, many people are participating in a nationwide movement advocating for workers. People say they are struggling with the high cost of living while companies continue getting richer.
Monday’s rally in Shelby County highlighted the importance of the working class. To them, Labor Day is more than a day off. The holiday was founded in 1894 to recognize the difficult working conditions and low wages along with advocating for fair pay, safer environments, and reasonable hours.
Nearly 130 years later, some believe the fight remains the same, and it does not have an age requirement.
“People in our high schools and communities who have been working for a while and not getting what they need for themselves,” Callaway Zaring, 15-year-old Advocate. “I hav
