TARRANT, Ala. (WIAT) -- Tarrant police are investigating a shooting that left a woman dead Sunday.

Authorities arrived to the 1400 block of Ford Avenue around 10 p.m. on reports of a shooting. Chief Wendell Major says they believe the shooting was the result of a dispute between two other women over a vehicle. Authorities were called to the home around 4 p.m. Sunday on reports of shots fired, but no one was hurt and the suspect left the scene, according to Major.

Police say someone later returned Sunday night and fired shots into the home. Police say the victim, a 35-year-old woman, was at the home for a Labor Day gathering
