The Oklahoma State Department of Education is moving forward with plans to require teachers from select states to take a new certification exam developed in collaboration with a conservative nonprofit organization.

To pass the test, an examinee would have to be able to name both congressional chambers, identify the first three words of the U.S. Constitution, identify the number of U.S. senators, explain why some states have more members in the U.S. House of Representatives and explain why freedom of religion is important to America’s identity.
Four of the first five questions on the test relate to biological sex; one asks "why is the distinction between male and female considered important
