SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The 53rd annual Capital City Century returns to Springfield this month, offering something that cyclists of all levels can enjoy.

The ride, presented by the Springfield (IL) Bicycle Club, will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Sherman Athletic Club.

All routes start and finish at the club, and riders will venture out on the Heritage Route 66 Multiuse Trail and then into the surrounding countryside on low-trafficked roads.

New this year, riders will head east, out towards the Richardson Clubhouse near Buffalo Hart, serving as the main rest stop.

Cyclists can also choose a gravel option, which will have them ride on some of the tougher roads in the area.
