EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- A 29-year-old man was arrested after a resisting deputies when they attempted to arrest him for an active warrant for assaulting a pregnant person, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.

On Friday, Aug. 29, deputies in the Northwest Patrol Station responded to a disturbance call in the 7100 block of Kayla Drive in Canutillo.

Uppon arrival, deputies made contact with 29-year-old Angel Geovanny Martinez. During the investigation, deputies learned Martinez had an active warrant for assault on a pregnant person. When deputies attempted to place him under arrest, Martinez physically resisted and ignored "repeated loud verbal commands" from deputies, the Sheriff's Office. After a brief struggle, deputies were able to gain control of Martinez and take him into custod
