EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- El Paso County is breaking ground on a new veterans memorial in Fabens.

The ceremony will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Fabens Veterans park, on PFC Fernando Gutierrez Street (formerly 602 4th St. NE).

The memorial will be in the heart of the park and is "designed to serve as a permanent tribute to the men and women who have bravely served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Space Force," the County said in a news release.

Funding for the project includes a $900,000 federal grant that was obtained by the El Paso County Water Control and Improvement District No. 4.
