OMAHA, Neb. —

The rain did not turn people away from this year's Labor Day parade.

It's been a staple with floats, balloons and treats for decades, paying tribute to the dedication of our working class.

Hundreds of attendees lined the streets, taking in the sights and the sounds of the annual celebration.

With a new shortened parade route, parade masterminds made sure every last detail was spot on for Labor Day.

"We have construction going on down here for the streetcar. We had to change the route, shorten it from going to 10th. We stop at 12th Street now and go north. There's so many moving parts that go into it," Jim Vecchio, CEO of Nebraska Center for Workforce and Education, said.

Despite a few band cancellations, the show went on with thousands marching.
