Lottery players are hoping for some one-in-a-million luck as the jackpot for one national game surges.

The Powerball jackpot currently sits at $1.1 billion, and Erie players were getting their tickets in the running.

The more than $1 billion jackpot is the fifth-largest prize in the history of the Powerball and the highest prize so far this year.

Bill Rose, owner of Kelly's Korner on Station Road, said there's been a craze of people coming to his store to try their luck at striking it rich.

"Anytime it's anywhere around a billion or more, a lot of people come out. It's overwhelming at times," said Rose. "Every couple years, you'll see one that's this large or larger. Now that there's mega, you're going to get them both, and sometimes they're both big and one will be bigger than the oth
