Birmingham City have confirmed the deadline day capture of Sunderland winger Patrick Roberts.

Roberts has penned a season-long loan at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park to bolster Chris Davies’ options out wide.

The left-footed Roberts tends to play as a right-winger and has spent the past three seasons operating in the Championship with Sunderland, with whom he won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in May.

Roberts was a fixture in Sunderland squads last season and featured in 48 of their 49 league matches, including their three play-off games, scoring twice and registering eight assists.

Sunderland have spent big since promotion and Roberts has found his chances limited in the opening weeks of the season. His only minutes came away in a 2-0 defeat to Burnley.
