COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M safety Dalton Brooks will be available for A&M’s home bout with Utah State Saturday, head coach Mike Elko confirmed Monday.
Elko declined to say why Brooks was in street clothes for the Aggies’ season-opening win over UTSA Saturday.
Last season, Brooks played in all 13 games, recording 59 tackles and six tackles for loss. In coverage, he defended two passes.
Brooks lined up on 674 snaps last season, according to Pro Football Focus. Players he was covering were targeted 16 times last season, pulling in 11 receptions for 219 yards, according to PFF.
“Obviously, he’s a really talented player,” Elko said of Brooks. “He’s a really good run-and-hit safety that we really think he’s gotten even a lot better this offseason. We’re excited to get him.”
